Clean Label Project is committed to changing the definition of food and consumer safety through data, science, and transparency. Within the sunscreen space, there have been recent regulatory advancements to ban the use of known endocrine disruptors like oxybenzone and octinoxate – commonly found in chemical sunscreens – that also have known links to coral reef damage. However, Clean Label Project has also seen elevated levels of heavy metals including Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury in some of America’s best-selling mineral sunscreens. When it comes to sunscreens, consumers want a product that is safe and effective. Clean Label Project™ is a national non-profit with the mission to bring truth and transparency to food and consumer product labeling. We have found that there is an increase in consumer, media, and academic attention being paid to the health consequences of exposure to heavy metals, pesticide residues, plasticizers, etc.. Yet, consumers will never find this information on product labels.
