Purity Award
Let’s face it, marketing departments do an effective job at selling comfort and security. The Clean Label Project Purity Award evaluates products for substances that would never be found on a product label. These substances include chemicals of concern and industrial and environmental toxins and contaminants (like heavy metals, pesticide residues, and plasticizers) that have the long-term potential to adversely affect health and well-being. Clean Label Project uses benchmarked data to compare individual product test results to the test results of the best-selling products in the same product category. In the process, we reveal to brands how their ingredient supply chain and quality assurance systems fare compared to industry leaders. We reveal to consumers what brands are taking the extra steps to minimize consumer exposure to known chemicals of concern.

When our Co-Founders, Alex and Victoria, learned that they were both going through a similar experience with their prenatals, they decided to dig deeper. They discovered that there was essentially no regulation in the prenatal industry, no specifications around the ingredients included, and perhaps worst of all, little information as to what should even be in a prenatal. What was even more surprising was that this applied to the entire category of vitamins, too. Turns out, timing is critical in nutrition—not only during pregnancy, but other stages of a woman’s reproductive life cycle, too. So they decided to change that. Most vitamins use a one-size-fits-all approach to prenatal nutrition that fails to deliver targeted nutrients for each unique stage of a woman’s hormonal lifecycle. Victoria and Alex teamed up with Dr. Banafsheh Bayati, who joined as Medical Co-Founder, to run point on formulation and medical community relations. Alex and Victoria knew firsthand the importance of OBs at this time, so they wanted to give women access to the best. And like all things in life, it takes a village which is why we pulled together a team of leading multidisciplinary doctors and practitioners in women’s health. These experts inform all of our products and power all of our educational content.
