Get Certified

Elevate Your Brand's Commitment to Safety, Transparency, and Quality

Becoming certified with Clean Label Project is more than just a badge—it’s a commitment to your customers and the environment. Our certification program is designed for brands who are voluntarily thinking of food safety differently with a long term view on environmental and public health.

Show your customers you are completely transparent about what is in your product.

By participating, your products will undergo rigorous testing for high levels of harmful substances often hidden from labels, such as heavy metals, pesticide residues, and plasticizers. Our certification not only helps you stand out in a crowded marketplace but also builds trust with consumers who are increasingly concerned about what goes into the products they use every day.

With Clean Label Project certification, you align your brand with a mission to promote a healthier future for all. Join us in setting a new standard for safety and accountability—because when you get certified, you’re not just meeting expectations; you’re exceeding them.

Sampling

After the product scope is identified, Clean Label Project simulates the consumer shopping experience and purchases samples from local co-ops, national retailers, and/or brand websites. This independent approach to product acquisition is meant to mirror the consumer shopping experience and evaluate the true contents of what’s in refrigerators, drawers, and pantries across America.

Testing

After the products are purchased at retail, Clean Label Project submits the samples to one of the ISO-accredited analytical chemistry laboratory partners. The testing, and evaluation, process can vary depending on the product type. The testing process can take up to 6 weeks.

Benchmarking

Upon completion of the testing, the test results for your product are evaluated and compared against Clean Label Project Certification program you're apply for.

Once the evaluation is complete, you can expect to hear from the Technical Administrator with your Clean Label Project Certification decision

Ongoing Compliance

Clean Label Project Certification is an annual certification program, which means that every single year, your products will be re-tested and re-evaluated against the Clean Label Project standard to ensure your products are staying within the acceptable limits for a Clean Label Project certified brand.

If a product is found to be non-compliant, adverse action policies are outlined in the applicable Clean Label Project Code of Practice.
