I applaud the Office of Analytics and Outreach at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition efforts to convene a working group to look at heavy metals in the food supply. However, the issue of industrial and environmental contaminants and chemicals of concern does not stop with heavy metals. I urge the FDA to help protect our nation’s food and consumer products by developing and enforcing guidelines to minimize consumer exposure, especially for foods and consumer products marketed to vulnerable populations.
